EXCLUSIVE: WATCH Democratic Staffer Confronted Over Viral Student Loan Bailout Post
If Rep. Marcy Kaptur were as lazy in 2024 as she was in 2022, her staffer wouldn’t even have had to show up to work, and would have saved himself some serious embarrassment that you're about to watch
Not all press is good press, as it turns out. For Ben Kamens, Rep. Marcy Kaptur’s (D., Ohio) communications director, a simple post turned into a nightmare he seemingly can’t escape from.
“Just got a call to let me know my student debt has been canceled,” Kamens tweeted from his now-private account. “This is why elections matter. Thanks @JoeBiden.”
The problems with this tweet have been litigated by many, and they include that the debt total was $8,250 with the disbursement rate beginning in 2010 and that Kamens makes over $80,000, well over the median household income of Kaptur’s district.
Now, we have footage of Kamens being confronted as he walked into the office following his latest viral tweet. Kamens left a previous job for Rep. Chuy Garcia (D., Ill.) under a cloud of scandal after he tweeted “you are borderline retarded, ya fucking dipshit” from Garcia’s official account.
Watch HERE as Kamens is confronted in the halls of Congress about his student loan bailout.
While some coverage claims that Kaptur opposed student loan relief, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) points to Kaptur’s votes over her rhetoric to claim that she supports Biden’s taxpayer-funded bailout scheme, specifically:
On May 24, 2023, Kaptur voted against nullifying rules issued by the Department Of Education to suspend federal student loan payments and discharge debt.
On June 21, 2023, Kaptur voted against overriding President Biden’s veto of the joint resolution that would provide for Congressional disapproval of his rule that allows for forgiveness of up to $10,000 in loan debt.
The irony is that Kaptur herself closed her offices until well after businesses in Ohio’s 9th District opened their doors in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic. Look at this video from March 28th, 2022, for example, where Kaptur’s office in Ohio was locked with the lights out.
If Kaptur were as lazy in 2024 as she was in 2022, Kamens wouldn’t even have had to show up to work, and would have saved himself some serious embarrassment.
This November, Kaptur is in the fight of her political life against Republican Derek Merrin, who is one of Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R., La.) favorite candidates, as he told me in an interview for the Washington Reporter.
Thank God He'll now be able to afford to eat!
